Raising quail chicks requires careful attention to their environment. A brooder provides a safe, warm space where young birds can grow strong and healthy before moving to other indoor cages or outdoor area. Choosing the right products for your brooder can make all the difference in the health and happiness of your birds. 1. Reliable Heat Source
Young chicks cannot regulate their body temperature well, so a consistent heat source is critical. Most breeders use heat lamps or brooder plates.
Heat lamps are affordable and easy to install but require careful monitoring to avoid overheating or fires.
Brooder plates provide gentle, radiant heat and reduce the risk of accidents but tend to be more expensive.
Adjust the heat source to maintain a temperature of about 95°F (35°C) during the first week, then reduce it by 5°F each week until the chicks are fully feathered.
2. Proper Brooder Box
The brooder box keeps chicks contained and protected. It should be spacious enough to allow chicks to move away from the heat if they get too warm.
Use a plastic tub, wooden box, or a specially designed brooder.
Ensure good ventilation without drafts.

Blue Shop towels with unscented pee pads under the towels with are great for first week and then I switch to Pine Pellets also called stall pellets they are absorbent and safe.

I don't recommend newspaper it may be to slippery and cause leg problems.
Change bedding regularly to maintain hygiene and prevent ammonia buildup.

Some feeders have small ports to keep feed clean.
Avoid deep feeders that chicks might fall into crawl into or get stuck inside.

My Personal favorite and recommendation is the Brinsea Ecoglow safety 600 brooder plate can easily accommodate up to 30 quail chicks and 20 chicken chicks. If this is your primary source of heat don't go cheap go reliable and high quality, some cheap models fail after a few uses.

I have used these since the beginning of my quail journey they are heavy duty compared to laser printed versions that the treads break down after a few hatches.

I highly recommend using no waste feeders after the first two weeks. I would use a shallow dish for feed so they can consume as much food as possible to gain strength for the first two weeks.
